What project resources do we have at our disposal to combat the spread of new diseases and at the same time to change our lifestyle with a green shift? This is the question that motivates today’s planners in the development of an alternative model of landscape to be experienced and not just observed.

168 students from all over the world attending the “Landscape Representation and Modelling” course of the Master’s degree course in “Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design” at the Politecnico di Milano, given by professors Alessandro Bianchi and Giovanna Sona, tried their hand at design proposals for Cremona’s “Nuovo Piano del Verde” (New Green Plan).

Ecosystems that make up the Po Valley landscape, analysis of infrastructural systems, green corridors, low-traffic bicycle and pedestrian routes, rediscovery of abandoned landscapes: these are the themes of the research that will be on display in an exhibition at the city’s Natural History Museum, from 9 September to 3 October 2021. The landscape and its use become the greatest resource against the spread of epidemics and the dam against destruction caused by climate change. These are the open questions that the Politecnico is trying to answer, with students of different nationalities and different approaches, but with a synergy oriented towards the sustainability of the actions.
