REGISTATIONS ARE CLOSED

On the occasion of the ENERGY FESTIVAL the university will be opening the doors to the laboratories of the Energy Department Laboratory with more than 6000 square metres of new infrastructure (including a radiation bunker and a bunker for studies on hydrogen, CO2 and the production of synthetic fuels) used for nuclear and energy-chemical research.

You will be able to visit the following laboratories in particular:

Laboratory of Micro-Cogeneration
The laboratory is a complete infrastructure for testing co- and tri-generation units that are fueled by natural gas, hydrogen, syngas and their mixtures as well as for testing heat pumps, absorption chillers and boilers (up to 100 kW and/or 300 kW of electric and thermal power respectively).

MRT Fuel Cell Lab
ACTIVITIES
The staff of the MRT Fuel Cell Lab contributes to the development of low temperature fuel cells technology and of flow batteries, combining experimental and modeling activities.
The research activities are focused on the analysis of electrochemical and transport phenomena, occurring in single components and at a system level, aiming to:

·       increase and consolidate the understanding of critical phenomena
·       develop novel components and systems
·       optimize their performance, operative strategies and lifetime

The ongoing projects regarding fuel cells are focused on DMFC, LT-PEM and HT-PEM, for portable and micro-cogeneration applications, while the projects on flow batteries regard the VRFB technology for the stationary storage of electrical energy.
FACILITIES
Fully automated single cell experimental testing facilities for the characterization of performance, degradation and transport phenomena.
Experimental facilities for mass transport characterization in liquid and gas phases (diffusivity, permeability) through porous components (GDL, GDE).
Systems for in-situ electrochemical characterization (EIS, CV, LSV).
System for gas mixture composition analysis and syngas simulation (microGC).
