Winner of numerous international awards such as the Oscar, the Bafta, the César and the David di Donatello for Best Foreign Film.

In 1984, Stasi officer Gerd Wiesler is ordered to spy on a writer, George Dreyman, who apparently is not a dissident against the Communist Regime. The reluctant Wiesler accepts this assignment due to pressure from his superiors, but he will end up being more and more intrigued by the cultural world of Dreyman, his girlfriend and their friends…

“If you are among those who go to the cinema once a year, this is the film you have to see in 2007. There are not enough awards to do justice to The Lives of Others.” Roberta Ronconi, Liberazione

“Go and see it. Immediately. Beautiful films like this are hard to come by. Such talented newcomers – just over 30 years old – are an even rarer commodity.” Mariarosa Mancuso, Il Foglio

The Lives of Others is placed at the head of line among those films that, by now, allow us to speak of a German “new wave” Roberto Nepoti, La Repubblica
