On the occasion of the 2023 Sustainable Development Festival, the Polimi DESIS Lab of the Design Department of the Politecnico di Milano proposes a cultural activity at OUT. The social courtyard and Off Campus Nolo, one of the four physical spaces of the Politecnico di Milano located throughout the area, which act as receptors for the needs of the context in which they are inserted and shape the social commitment of the university in the city, establishing new social practices of sustainable and inclusive co-design.

At Off Campus Nolo a neighborhood snack will be organized and a workshop aimed at the little ones, SOSpesa will be presented, the project that involves the recovery, use and enhancement of food surplus, distributing 20 weekly expenses to fragile people in the neighborhood and at the same time stimulating the economy of small neighborhood shops.

The proposed event aims to make the local community aware of issues such as the construction of local networks of solidarity, the recovery and enhancement of surpluses and food poverty. Specifically, the laboratory will offer the children of the neighborhood the creation of artistic works through the production and use of natural pigments, obtained from fruit and vegetable waste recovered from food surpluses.
During the event, a fundraiser will also be promoted to support the SOSpesa initiative.
