The Carbon Neutral City initiative:
The Carbon Neutral City initiative: innovative tools and relevant experiences aims to present some of the innovative and successful experiences of the city of Milan, a district-scale Carbon Neutral pilot city, which aim to promote urban regeneration processes, adaptation policies and climate change mitigation and which involved all the main actors of the city.
In addition to sharing the experiences of the city of Milan and proposing them as models to other urban areas and territories, both from the point of view of the tools used and the process of involving citizens, the PA and decision makers and Real Estate operators, one of the objectives of the meeting will be to contribute to the production of notes on the “lessons learned” on Carbon Neutral and Smart cities, both in Europe and internationally, thanks also to the presence of guests from international organisations who will be able to provide reflections on a global scale with respect to these issues.
The works will take place partly in Italian and partly in English.
The event is promoted by Consorzio Poliedra, Politecnico di Milano, Redo sgr, Municipality of Milan, AMAT and sees the contribution of EIT-Climate-KIC and the participation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, Lendlease, the “100 Neutral Cities” networks and “C40 Cities”.
The event is part of ALL4Climate-Italy2021, the initiative, launched by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, in collaboration with the World Bank’s communication program on climate change Connect4Climate, together with the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Milan as an approach path at the Pre-Cop to be held in Milan from 30 September to 2 October as well as at the COP26 in Glasgow scheduled for the end of the year.
The event is twinned with SP2021 – the Ninth Edition of the Sustainable Places initiative, which will be held in Rome from 28 September to 1 October.
