Architect Massimo Del Seppia graduated in 1997 with a thesis on the recovery of the former Pisa-Tirrenia-Livorno tramway line. This proved to be a fundamental experience for his knowledge of the area, maturing the strong idea of a profound union between the city and its coastline.
His most significant projects include the complex cultural centre in Fiesso D’Artico (VE), the urban transformation of the former psychiatric hospital in Volterra, the new sports hall in Guastalla and the new health and social centre in San Giuliano Terme.
The speech at MANTOVARCHITETTURA describes n particular the Pisa Architecture Biennial Project, which is characterised by a twofold level of research: the first is based on the relevant inspiring ideas in identifying the themes to be developed and tackled for each edition, and the second is a laboratory job on the city of Pisa, following the method devised by LP Laboratorio Permanente per la Città: working on districts considered to be a fundamental element for reading the city. Towards a renewed idea of the city, a practical city, read by neighbourhoods that always focuses on public space and greenery as a primary value in the new urban strategies, which are now more relevant and necessary than ever.
